ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM

The ARRIS D5™ Universal Edge QAM is a unique modular IP edge network device that enables delivery of a wide variety of multimedia services over HFC networks. It provides a complete QAM Sharing solution with simultaneous support of Video-On-Demand, Digital Broadcast, and multiple standards-based Switched Digital Video services. Extensive management and provisioning features are integrated in the D5 solution using a of set of local or remote graphical and command line tools. A software-only field upgrade achieves Modular Cable Modem Termination System (M-CMTS) compliance for simultaneous delivery of DOCSIS downstream data and MPEG-2 Digital Video content. Operators can benefit from reducing the expenses and operational complexity of using single purpose Edge QAMs when launching advanced multimedia delivery and future high-speed data services with the multi-service ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM.

The D5 Edge QAM’s modular architecture and flexible configuration economically speed network transitions to all-digital systems and enable inexpensive set-top boxes, cable modems and IP Set-Top Boxes to coexist on the same HFC downstream. Operators can start with MPEG-2 or DVB-C digital video today and migrate to IP TV services in the future.
